Submission Agreement

    2012 Toronto Student Film Festival
    Submission Deadline: March 25th

    Ways to submit to Toronto Student Film Festival 2012
    ALL SUBMISSIONS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A TSFF ONLINE SUBMISSION FORM

    1. Submission via Withoutabox
    a) Fill in online submission form (see below) including photo id for age verification for Director, DOP, Writer and Editor.

    b) Follow the link to Withoutabox for uploading instructions (after completing the submission form below).

    2. Submission Via Mail
    a) Fill in online submission form including a copy of photo id, for age verification of Director, DOP, Writer and Editor.

    b) Mail your DVD copy of the film to:

    Conditions of Film Submission:

    Material must be 6 mins or less including credits.

    Submit to Withoutabox or send by mail by Midnight March 25th 2012.

    Director, DOP, Writer and Editor, must be 21 years of age or younger on December 31st, 2012.

    For the 12 – 15 category, director, DOP, writer and editor must be 15 years of age or younger on December 31st, 2012.

    For the 16 – 18 category, director, DOP, writer and editor must be 18 years of age or younger on December 31st, 2012.

    Apart from actors, please list any person and their role involved in the production of the film who is over the stated age limit.

I acknowledge and agree that to the best of my knowledge, I am duly authorized to submit this film to TSFF and to grant permissions related to its use and distribution.

    I grant permission to TSFF to use film clips/stills for promotional use. I allow TSFF and any third parties at TSFF the right to film, videotape and photograph my appearance and voice for any and all marketing and promotion of the festival. TSFF regrets that DVDs will not be returned post festival submission.

    If this film is accepted into TSFF 2012, I grant TSFF the non-exclusive right to screen the film at TSFF and to exhibit and distribute the film in its entirety for any promotion or project under the TSFF name for up to one year after the 2012 festival. Exceptions will be granted by written request.

    Submitting a film to TSFF constitutes an agreement by and between the filmmaker/representative and TSFF. By submitting, I agree to all of these rules, terms and conditions.

    Copyright Warnings

    Entrants are encouraged to create productions that consist entirely of original material, including music, graphics, visuals etc. By entering the Toronto Student Film Festival, you are declaring that the material in your production is either entirely original or, you obtained proper, legal permission to use someone else’s copyrighted material.

    • For popular songs, you must submit copies of express written consent from both the publisher and the record company which state your name, the name of your production, the title of the song, the names of the composer, performer and publisher and any specific limitations on the use of the song.

    • To use images from books, newspapers, television, videos, video games etc., you must have written permission – unless they are incidental to the shot (see below).

    • Material available on the Internet is not considered to be in the public domain. Material is only in the public domain if it is older than 50 years, and/or the copyright holder has explicitly given up all rights to the material.

    • Historic footage ie. footage from World War II must be checked thoroughly for the copyright holder….check the video for a publishing company. This company will need to be contacted to obtain permission.

    Visuals that are incidental to the shot are exempt from having to provide permissions. For Example: Branded clothing that people are wearing as a natural part of their every day wardrobe, cars that appear in the shot, products that people use, images that people are watching on TV that are incidental to the shot.
