Paul Gross

Paul Gross is a Canadian actor, writer and director. You have seen him on TV, on the stage, in movies and campaigning on behalf of the Canadian film and television industry.

Before Due South, which brought him worldwide acclaim, Paul’s appearances on the big and small screens included: Chasing Rainbows, Aspen Extreme, Cold Comfort, Getting Married in Buffalo Jump, Whale Music, XXXs and 000s and Buried on Sunday. He played Brian Hawkins in the critically acclaimed miniseries “Armistead Maupin’s Tales Of The City”.

Since due South ended in 1998, Paul has set up a production company, Whizbang Films Inc, with Frank Siracusa. Notable projects include Men With Brooms (which saw his directorial debut and achieved the highest English Canadian box office in 20 years); TV series Slings & Arrows; mini-series H2O; its sequel, The Trojan Horse; the TV series Eastwick; and Passchendaele.

Niv Finchman

Niv Fichman is a founding partner of Rhombus Media, renowned as one of the world’s most respected producers of high quality feature films, television series and films on the performing arts.

He has produced most of Rhombus’ output, which now stands at around two hundred films over the past thirty years. He is responsible for several highly renowned feature films, the most recent being the Canadian World War One epic Passchendaele, written, directed and starring Paul Gross.

Some of Fichman’s best known productions include Silk, The Red Violin, The Saddest Music in the World, September Songs, and Last Night.

Away from Rhombus, Niv recently ended an eight-year stint on the Board of the Toronto International Film Festival. He has also received a Doctor of Letters degree (honoris causa) from York University in June, 1998. Most recently, Niv Fichman was named the Canadian Producer of the Year for 2007 by the CFTPA.

Deepha Mehta

Deepa Mehta is a Genie Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated Indian born Canadian director and screenwriter, best known for her Elements Trilogy: Fire (1996), Earth (1998), and Water (2005), which was nominated for Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. She also co-founded Hamilton-Mehta Productions, with her husband, producer David Hamilton in 1996.
